Summary: Learn tips on how to breed a herding border collie in this free video clip on dog herding and pet training.
Good morning, I'm Jim Leske. I'm with Expert Village and I'm the expert animal trainer. This is Tess and today we are talking about Border Collies. This topic is going to cover a little bit more about the specifics of the breed. Tess is a rescue. She's probably a mix; she's probably not a pure bred border collie. So sometimes, people think that if they get a rescue dog or a mixed breed that there's going to be inbreeding and all that kind of stuff. That's just not true. You don't have to go to a breeder and spend thousands of dollars to get a wonderful pet. I got Tess from a border collie rescue in Texas. She's been a wonderful pet and has had tremendous health and is in very, very good shape. The average life expectancy is somewhere in the area of twelve to fourteen years. Basically, the rule of thumb is: the bigger the dog, the shorter the life span. So, I'm Jim Leske. I'm with Expert Village, and we'll be right back talking more about Border Collies.
