DIXON GILLETTE: Welcome back to Expert Village, my name is Dixon Gillette. Let's continue our guide on How to play Battlestations: Midway. Now, it's time to learn how to use those ships that nobody sees but everyone fears, submarines. Now, while a submarine is on the surface, it's going to behave just like any other ship would. It has a rudder and it has forward and backward speeds. Submarines' armament usually includes a small AA gun, maybe a deck gun, and forward and rear torpedo tubes. Submarines have four depth levels that they can operate at. The one you see here is the top level or the surface level. In order to issue the dive order, you're going to push C on your keyboard. Once you do this, your submarine will automatically begin to submerge itself to depth level 2 or periscope level.
