Armbar from the Guard Position in Jiu Jitsu
Hi! This is Don Daly representing expertvillage.com, and in this clip, we’re going to demonstrate the arm bar from the guard position. Basic arm bar from the guard. Guy leaves his arm on my chest; I’m going to trap the wrist and the back of the tricep. We want to trap here and here. It’s going to be hard for him to pull his arm out. Okay, we got a nice trap, but if I grab here and here and I try to keep it trapped, it’s going to pull his arm out. No arm bar, so I want to trap tight here. Keep it on my chest; keep it tight. Okay, once I got a secured hold, put in the hip or on the ground. Same side as the arm you got trapped, so I put it on ground or in the hip and I spin my head over bringing his arm across his body. Okay, I still got my trap on taking the foot. We lift the hips up over the head, clamp down tight, slightly lift hips, apply the pressure, and breaks the elbow. Okay, so we trap here, here. He can’t get out. Foot here, I spin over, lift my hips up, come down, and break the arm. Important that we need to spin, because if we don’t and we try to bring the leg over it won’t go over. Here if we come over, now I have room here. Sometimes when I spin he’s going to maybe give me a hard time with his head. He’s going to bring himself towards me. If I take this hand and push his head away. Keep him away, leg over, arm bar.
