Cross Choke from the Guard Position in Jiu Jitsu
Hi! This is Don Daly representing expertvillage.com, and in this clip we’re going to show a basic Jiu Jitsu cross choke from the guard position. Okay, so you have the guy, your opponent, locked in a guard. Okay, we’re going to use our legs to pull him up so I can reach inside his collar. We can’t choke him from back here; we got him up here. What I want to do is take 4 fingers, go to the back of the collar. Thumb is out, back of the neck. If we go too shallow, we’re going to miss the choke. We need to be on the carotid artery, so we go to the very back here. Second hand, same thing but we slide under 4 fingers in going to the back of the collar. Thumb is out. When I’m ready to choke, I lift my head. Elbows come out and I turn my bones into his neck. Cuts off the blood flow, makes him pass out. Again, we pull him up, 4 fingers in. Other hand; 4 fingers in , back of the collar, elbows out, lift head and he chokes. Variation on this; you come under 4 fingers in and I go to choke him but I can’t get in or he blocks because he knows I’m going to choke him. If he blocks, no problem. Switch my head over, I reach over, I grab material on the back of his put my bone down to his neck and he chokes the same way.
