Basic Jiu Jistu Stance
Hi! This is Don Daly representing expertvillage.com, and in this clip, we’re going to go over the basic jiu jitsu stance. When squared off with an opponent, you want to have one foot forward, one foot back, feet shoulder width, hands up, always ready for your opponent. If I stand here feet flat, my opponent comes at me and he pushes me, I’m off balance. If you can take me down, I’m in trouble. Now if I stand, one foot back, one foot forward, abs tight, shoulders square, head down; he comes to push me, I’ve got my balance, he can’t push me over and I can push it back and we can counter. So jiu jitsu stance, one foot forward, one foot back, abs tight, hands up, head down. Again, if I stand like this, he comes at me I got no balance. If I put one foot back and one foot forward, head is down, he comes at, I can balance and fight him off.
