Hi! I'm Kelli on behalf of Expert Village. I am going to show you my techniques for saddling a horse with an English saddle. Now that we've curried and loosened any dirt or sweat that might be encrusted in her fur, we are going to take our stiff bristle brush here and we are going to remove anything that we may have loosened. We are just going to do it in short flicking motions. This will get deeper down into the fur, get anything off that we loosened. Going to go down her leg here and hold my hand at her shoulder so that she knows that I am going down her leg; short flicking motions. Put my hand and let her know that I am headed to her hind end here so that I don't startle her. I would never want to startle and be kicked. Keep my hand on her rump here so that she knows that I am going to go down her back leg so that I don't startle her. I am going to walk behind her again enough distance away so that she would not be able to kick me if something would scare her. Walk back up to her and give her a little pat and let her know that I am here. We are going to start at the neck; short flicking motions. Put my hand on her shoulder, go down the leg and let her know that I am there. Put my hand on her rump here and let her know that I am going to brush her rum and go back down the leg. When we are done, we will walk enough distance away so we don't get kicked and that is how you want to stiff brush your horse.
