Sivananda Yoga Chakrasana (Wheel) Pose

Sue here is going to be demonstrating the Wheel Pose, Chakrasana. It's a little bit more of a modification of Bridge Pose. It's taking it kind of to that next level. So I'm going to have her come onto her back. It's a wonderful back bend, absolutely beautiful back bend, but it does take a little bit of arm strength, a little bit of your shoulders to be nice and open. So coming into Wheel Pose. Bring the arms behind her. Now notice how she comes to her palms, but her fingertips are pointing downwards. Very slowly, take a nice inhale. Wait just a minute, feet stay about hip-width apart, toes pointing straight forward. Now take the inhale. Exhale slowly, lifting up, press into those palms. Here comes that back bend part, she's got a beautiful back bend. Now she's looking backwards, she's not looking down to the ground, she's letting her head hang down. Beautiful. Now coming out of it, she slowly lowers down, to the crown of her head, and then starts lowering her body down.Beautiful. Pull the knees into your chest, give them a good hug. Rock out side-to-side, and lower the legs down, and come into your Sivasana.
