Using Torpedoes & Guns in Battlestations Midway

DIXON GILLETTE: Welcome back to Expert Village, my name is Dixon Gillette. Let's continue our guide on How to play Battlestations: Midway. One of the most effective aerial ordnance weapons is the torpedo bomber. The torpedo bombers are the most effective weapon against ships since their weapons detonate below the water line resulting in a major leak. Now, in order to launch your torpedoes, you have to be flying level and under 100 feet of altitude; otherwise, your bomb will go off when it hits the water. The only difference with a torpedo bombing is you will not push the Shift key. You will simply push your mouse button once to release your torpedo and off it'll go. The last type of technique that's available to you is strafing. Strafing is essentially holding down your machine gun trigger and aligning your aircraft on a direct vector towards its target. Straffing is not effective against heavily armored installations or destroyers or warships. However, it is effective on more lightly armored crafts such as PT boats, other airplanes and some types of ground installation units. Be careful when you're in the strafing run in that you don't get hypnotized, leave yourself plenty of altitude to pull out once your strafing run is complete.
