How to Set Patrol Routes in Battlestations Midway

DIXON GILLETTE: Welcome back to Expert Village, my name is Dixon Gillette. Let's continue our guide on how to play Battlestations: Midway. One of the other things you can do on a map screen is you can assign a ship or an airplane to fly a given path. You can have this aircraft fly this path for the duration of its mission by assigning it different waypoints. This is going to be especially effective when you have a large-scale campaign and you cannot manage each and every plane individually. Here, you will select their paths and patrol routes so that your ships are protected and you're going to win the game. One other thing you're going to keep in mind is when you want to cancel a Move To or Attack command, push the Spacebar. This will completely nullify any orders that you have previously issued for this attack. If you selected a plane and you've cancelled its particular orders, that aircraft will essentially circle around here until you issue it new orders. Now, you can have this done at any point on the map; however, one thing that's especially important is to have your aircraft either escorting other bombers or a ship. This is called CAP or Combat Air Patrol. To do this, you're essentially going to select the aircraft that you want to have circle your ship and by issuing the Move To command, you will have your plane essentially circle around that ship, protecting it from enemy forces. And finally, once you're all done with this map, push the Tab key to return you to the main window.
