Finishing the Fins of your Model Rockets

Now what I'm going to do is I'm going to finish the fin. Previously we had sanded the surface of the fin that meets the body tube. Now what I'll do is I'll sand the edges of the fin that meet the airflow of the air across the fin as it goes up. We're going to put a slight aerodynamic airfoil or a curve on the fin. To do this you simply take your sandpaper and you take your fin and on the piece, again, on the piece that we're looking at, and you make sure to mark this, it will be the piece that is the leading edge of the fin. To do that you simply get your sandpaper and, I'm left handed, and sand a rounded surface on the fin. It doesn't have to be that accurate and you can do as much or as little of this as you choose. What this will do is it will provide you a nice airflow effect for the fin to meet the air as it goes up. It does make a slight difference in how the rocket will fly.
