How to Quilt the Top of a Zipper Backpack

Hi I'm Karen for Expert Village. Now we are going to quilt our top section. First I'm going to start by sewing a quarter inch around the edge. Then I will just quilt in the inside. So a quarter inch right around the edge being careful in the thick spots, that it is not too much for your machine. You can pull out the pins as you go. Then we would go down the side. Then just like the bottom we are going to just sort of crazy back and forth quilt these two pieces of fabric together. It gives it a little texture, it gives it a little more firmness and strength. Just sort of go back and forth and if you use a contrasting color thread you can get a little bit of a color differences too. And I will end there and that is our top section. Trim any extra thread that you have here and next we would work on making a pocket.
