Haltering a Horse Before Bridling English Style

Hi, I'm Kelli on behalf of Expert Village. I'm going to show you my tips and techniques to properly bridle your horse with a English bridle. So the first thing we are going to do is put our halter on our horse. So we are going to take our right hand, reach it around and grab her nose. I'm going to take the round piece of your halter, place it over her nose in there. Pull it really gently up over her ears. Make sure that her forelock and her mane is not stuck in there and pulling any uncomfortable way. We are going to take our clip here and we are going to clip it to the little o ring on the side. Some halters would have a crown piece that goes up over the ears so all you do it slip it through there and buckle it up. If your halter is made that way, you want to make sure it doesn't sit too tight on the horses face so it does not rub or it does not pull. So it should usually sit a couple of inches up from the nostril on your nose band so it is not too tight or too small on your horse. That is how you should put your halter on your horse.
