Playing Songs with a Hammered Dulcimer: Part 1
Hi! I'm Tim Van Egmond here for expertvillage.com. I'm here to talk about the hammered dulcimer and if you would like to know about me, you can visit my website at www.timvanegmond.com. What I would like to talk about now is accompanying songs. The dulcimer can be used for wonderful instrumental lead but it also is very beautiful for accompanying songs and there are very many talented players out there that has demonstrated this. To give you a basic idea you can take the chords that go with the song and use them to back up the singing of your voice. For instance, if I took the song __ __ which was a song that was a sailors song and also became a play party song of the Midwest. Play party was a tradition of dancing and doing games to the singing of the people who were doing the dancing. So __ ___, take her by her Lily white hands and lead her like the pigeon, make her dance the ____ ___ and scatter her religion. __ ___ my love supposedly growing. _________________________________ __________________________________________________ when I come back with a loaf of bread she'll be and so on.
