History of the Roast Beef Sandwich

On behalf of Expert Village I'm Laura Bandford and I'm going to teach you how to make a super sandwich. Before we jump in and make our super sandwich I wanted to give you some of the history on how the sandwich came about. It really has a fascinating past. It was 1760 a man name John Montagu who was a British noblemen also known as the era of sandwich. Sandwich was the town where he was from spoke with his personal chef that he had a issue. John Montagu was a serous card player and he wanted the chef to come up with some kind of food that he can eat without any utensils. No knife, no fork, no worry about plates and bowls and spoons. He wanted to be able to hold his cards in one hand and hold his food in another. Well that chef came up with something terrific. Something that last to this day it is called the sandwich he took 2 pieces of bread, some roast beef I understand, some sort of spread and put it all together. Then gave it to John Montagu, well John Montagu was able to play a lot of card. Probably lose a lot of money but he always well feed. To this day sandwiches have continue the tradition to being comfort food and delicious. We are going to continue the tradition right now ad we start to make our super roast beef sandwich.
