For those of you who are already familiar with music and music theories especially, I would like to talk about how the bass side is arranged in a more advanced term. If we take a look at the bass buttons, you will notice we have rows going this way and then rows arranged diagonally. These first two rows are single-based notes, and running this way, they are arranged in fifths. So if you have C here under the rhinestone, the next note is G, D, A, E and etc. And of course if you reverse fifths, it is fourths. It is a circle of fifths either way. Going backwards C, F, B-flat all the way down. Now this top row of notes is referred to as counter bass notes. This is an accordion term, and really what it is it is just the third of whichever button is in this row. So if you have C here, then the counter bass is E. F, A. Going this direction down the diagonal, if this note is C, then down the diagonal one is C major chord. Down the diagonal two buttons, C minor chord. Down the diagonal again a C7 chord, and finally a C diminished chord. There are some accordions with a 140-based notes that include a C augmented chord. This is a 120-based accordion, so we stop at the diminished chord. This is how the bass is arranged on a 120-based Stradella system accordion, which is what this is called with the chords, Stradella system.
Hi Brett. This is fantastic. I had an old Silvestrini Goldentone sitting in my spare room, never really knew what to do with it (I play guitar but I'm not very in tune with keyboards). It's a beautiful instrument and now you've given me the confidence and inspiration to pick it up and DO something with it! Thanks a lot
There is an error in presentation: when explaining auxiliary bass row (counter bass) Brett presses the wrong button.
I am going to use the learning of the accordian as my brain exercise so I do not sink into old age too soon. Thank you for the start Brett.
