Finishing Up a Still Life Drawing

Hi this is Julia Karch for Expert Village.com. In this video series we will be talking about still life drawing for beginners. Well you never know when you are done. You just decide when you are done. When you feel that you are finished, you have created something that you believe that you are after, something that is recognizable. So here I’ve focused on a couple of things. I definitely focused on the shading underneath and I focused on lines that create the shape of each form within the object. Lines that go this way, ridges and darker lines and lighter lines. It’s a decent replica of what I am seeing in front of me. Lines back here are darker; lines down here are darker because this is where the most shadow. Lines here are lighter and I can work on this more and I can even work on this more after the object is gone. I could take this away and work on it on my own whenever. So it’s a matter of deciding when you are finished. It’s not when anyone tells you that you are finished or when you think you are supposed to be finished.
