Now that you have been practicing the right hand side for Mary Had a Little Lamb, and the left hand side, we are going to combine the two and finish our song. Part of what you will have to work on is the timing. How to connect these two things together even though you know how to play them both? When do you change from the C to the G? I am going to play the song for you slowly, and I am going to call out what we call the chord changes, so I will say C when you are supposed with your fourth finger on the C button, and I will say G when you are supposed to move up to the G and back and forth so that you will know exactly at what point in the song to change. So we start on C in the bass and of course with the E, for melody of Mary Had a Little Lamb. G, C, stay on C, G, C. When you are practicing this, sometimes musicians, especially beginners, get a little bored of the repetition of practicing, but it is the only way to learn a song. One of the exciting things about the accordion is that you have all these different sounds by using the different stops, so you can practice the same song, but it will sound different by using a different stop. Try something different on the bass and the treble, and it might sound kind of weird and might sound kind of fun.
Played accordain as a child, and have just picked one up again. Found this video lesson series and feel I will be playing again pronto. Thanx. Al from Edmonton, Canada
