Etiquette for Ordering Food

Hi! I am Marianne, and on behalf of expertvillage.com, I will be discussing proper dining etiquette. This session is on teaching your children how to properly excuse themselves when they are finished eating, and how to order when you are at the restaurant. When you are at the restaurant, when the waiter comes to take your order you should definitely say, ‘May I please have this?’ or you can ask, ‘Could you please tell me some of your specials?’ With your children too, teaching them proper manners at the table, saying please and thank you when they have been passed something or ask for something. Also, when they have completed their meal, they should ask to be excused, that they are finished. They might comment that the meal was delicious and certainly, you have to let them know if it is all right to be excused. But that is proper for children to thank for the meal and to make a comment on how they liked it, and then ask if they can be excused.
