Prepare Your Home for Winter

Hi! This is Jon on behalf of Expert Village. In this video clip, we will be taking a look at our wood surfaces. Now what you are looking for is any areas of weathering or paint failure. Here we have a window and if we take a look at the paint it is starting to chip off. To fix this what we would want to do is scrape any of the excess paint and reseal, prime and paint that and that is going to give a really protection from potentially getting into the house. In addition, it is going to prolong the life of your windows. If we take a look at the side of our house, we have a piece of trim here where the paint has failed. This could be due to age of the paint and homeowner not painting and keeping up with that or there could be some other problem like a water leak which could cause the board to get wet and the paint to peel off.
