Final Cleaning for a Valve Cover

Hi, I am Mark Blocker on behalf of Expert Village. In this segment we are going to cover cleaning the valve cover gasket and the head assembly, part three. Now that we have got the valve cover clean, the other surface that we need to check and clean and make sure that is prepared as well is the engine head where the valve cover seals. basically we just need to make sure that this free and clear of all debris, oil, residue, varnish and sludge all the way around where it seats and these four mating surfaces for the seals for the spark plug wires. This can be done depending on the amount of goop and sludge by simply getting some cleaning agent on a rag and wiping it down manually making sure it gets everything up. Just look and make sure that it is nice and clean and that there is no oil residue. Just repeat that procedure all the way around. This works real good because the rag contains the cleaning agent so it is not being dripped and splashed into the environment. Also the oil sludge and varnish that you are pulling up is retained in the rag as well. So just continue all the way around and make sure that surface is cleaned. Each one of the holes, make sure they are clean and free of all oil debris. That concludes the cleaning portion now that we have got the valve cover clean and the head surface clean. Please watch out next segment on, "Installing the valve Cover Gasket".
