How to Install Metal Flashing on a House

Hi, this is Jon on behalf of Expert Village in this video clip we'll be installing our metal flashing. Our metal flashing is going to be slipped up underneath our current siding, however we need to be careful because there is a bunch of nails that are going to get in the way when we slide it up there. So we are going to have to remove those nails first. Next we are going to slip the metal flashing in place up underneath that sliding. Now as I go along I'm going to take a piece of the old siding and help push it up by putting that old piece of siding in that groove. Before I press this up tight against my siding I'm going to put a bit of caulking and this is just siding caulking for trim and siding. I'm going to put that all along my piece, then I'm going to press it up and that is going to give me a nice water tight seal in there. Make sure that gets pushed up there good and tight. If you missed any nails make sure you take those out. Now in areas where I had two pieces of flashing come together I overlapped them just a couple of inches.
