How to Move a Queen in a Chess Game

Now we are going to look at the moves of the queen. The queen is a very powerful piece in fact in terms of actual play it is your most powerful piece. The king has a unique role that I will get into in a minute. The queen actually combines the moves of the rook which you remember and of the bishop which you will remember. It does have the same constraints as the other pieces already mentioned that is to say it can move on the open areas only if it comes to one of its own pieces or an opponent piece. It is blocked. If it is an opponent piece it can of course take it so it could take there or it could take here or it could take here and so on because it does have this ability to move in all of the different directions and that of course is what makes it such a powerful piece and once again it can move any number of squares providing that it is open one whatever it wishes to.
