How to Follow up a Job Interview
Hi, I'm Katie Roney on behalf of Expert Village we are talking about how to have a successful interview. As a candidate we always say first impressions are huge and they are. But just as big as first impressions are the last impressions. Not when you leave the building but what type of communication you had with the potential employer after the interview. You want to make sure that you send them a card or an email just thanking them for their time. It may not be the job of your choice or the job of your dreams, or it may be, regardless, thank them for their time. It's professional and it's always well received to receive a card or an email. You also want to make sure that if you are suppose to call them on the exact day to give them a call, whatever the instructions were that you left in the interview. But, if you haven't heard from them and it's been a couple of days and you're staring to feel a little more, feel like a lack of communication has taken place. Pick up the phone, give them a call, shoot them an email or just say hey, I hadn't heard from you, I wanted to see where we are in the process, get back to me when you can. If you still don't hear from them you may want to try one other time just because they may be busy or that may not be on the top of their priority list but it's OK to try and get in touch with them multiple times. It shows that you are persistent. After a while, you obviously would like to stop communicating with them if you are not receiving anything in return. It just shows professionalism to follow up and send cards and emails.
