Addressing Work Experience in a Job Interview
Hi, I'm Katie Roney on behalf of Expert Village. We are discussing how to have a successful interview. As a candidate, you want to make sure that your skills are going to, or you're going to make sure that you can sell your skills, and let the interviewee know exactly how they're matching up with their needs. During the interview, you're probably going to go over the position description. Have a pen and paper ready, mark down where exactly you've done such and such. So if the position says must have three years of computer programming, make a note to yourself on the side of the resume, three years at company XYZ. Inevitably they're going to ask you, do you have that many years of experience, or where did you gain that experience? And at that point and time you can say actually right here, and you can show them on your resume. It just makes it a much easier transition, that way you're not constantly having to think on your feet or fumble back over your resume, you'll have it right there in front of you. Phil, in this job we need somebody with leadership experience because it does require, you know, this management roll you'll be over about fifteen people. Uh hum. Where have you done that in the past? My last position it didn't quite hit fifteen, but I did have ten people that worked under me. We had seven different territories and I was able to make sure that all of the people under me hit all of their quotas for the year, and we all hit our bonus, good, and we all did pretty good. So, I don't have quite the fifteen, but it's close. Now that was a great answer. That's what you want to here. You want them to give you not only where they've done it, but you want them to go into it and explain to you a little bit further. After all, this is the candidates time to shine.
