Introducing Your Company to an Interviewee
Hi, I'm Katie Roney on behalf of Expert Village, we are discussing how to conduct an interview. Going over the company is vital. You are the advertisement as the interviewer. You are the front man, so what you convey to them about your company is going to draw them in or push them away. So it's very important that you have all of your details, all your facts, all your information prepared and ready to go because you really just want to lay it out. First I would start with the history, where your company was founded, why it was founded, who founded it, location, if it had any movement at all, any attrition, any mergers, just to let them know. It gives them a nice timeline, and helps them to feel a little more comfortable about the longevity. You always want to talk about any awards, or any accolades that you've received as far as being a leader in your industry. Any time you can brag on yourself, do it. This is the time. Don't think to yourself oh, they probably read online that we're number one in the city for X, Y or Z. Make sure that you tell them. They may not have gotten online or read that at all, so this is your time. You also want to give strengths of the company, let them know our stock prices have gone up this much, or we've had zero layoffs, or turnover is practically zero, or we lost one person last year because of relocation. But these are the things that they're going to be interested in. They're sitting there thinking, why would I want to work there, and this is your chance to tell them. You also want to go over anything that makes you happy. Why are you happy here? Is it because everyone makes great bonuses, or is it because the salary's steady? Is it because you have the ability to work from home occasionally? A lot of the soft skills are what going to be, that's going to be the points of interest for the candidate, so don't skip over those. Even the touchy feely stuff, benefits, vacation, jeans of Friday, lay it all out there. Anything that would be enticing you want to let them know at this time. And be enthusiastic about it. Because when they see that you're enthusiastic about it, then they're going to get excited about it, and that's going to increase their interest.
