How to Pick Roller Derby Equipment
Hi, this is Jerry Seltzer roller derby commissioner for Expert Village. Our early uniforms were designed by the same people that made football uniforms. They wear tights with leather padding, otherwise there were no shoulder pads or anything. Today's roller girls all wear knee pads, face protectors, helmets, things we didn't wear. However, by skating in the outfits they do are really inviting a lot of injuries, and it has happened and will continue to happen. However as they have evolved into more professional type of skating and they continue to do that way they are now there will be a big change in the matches roller girls are competing in.
