Good idea but if you have room for a sheet of plywood and pallets, then put a oversized tarp over the tent then big rocks around on the tarp around the base of the tent.I used this method in Alaska and it can pour for months and the wind can blow 50 mph and youll still be camping good.Just a thought because bringing pallets and plywood or cardboard is,nt real practical unless you have the space.

Laying Out the Tent: Free Online Camping Guide

Hi! This is Brian on behalf of expertvillage.com. Now we are going to move on to actually laying down the tent. What I have here is what is called a dome style tent, very common, and has become very popular lately with campers and outdoor enthusiasts. Other varieties, such as pup tents and things are coming a lot less commonly used because they are more difficult to setup. So today, we are going to show you how to setup a dome style tent. The first aspect of doing this is to remove the tent from the packaging and lay it out on the ground, flat above your tarp. Pay careful attention to everything that comes out because you are going to need it during the setup process of the tent. This particular tent has a rain fly, go ahead, remove that, and set it off to the side. That will be put on later. One thing that you always want to do is locate the door. You are going to want to place that towards your campfire and towards your cooking facilities. As luck would have it, the way I unrolled the tent shows the door facing our campsite.
