How Hair & Eye Color Affect Lipstick Color

I'm Kelli on behalf of Expert Village I'm going to show you how to choose a red lipstick. Another thing you want to take into consideration when you are trying to determine your undertones and determine which shades will work best for you is eye and hair color. Somebody may have more of a warm complexion to their skin, meaning they have more golden base to their skin but their hair color may make them more of a cool color. So, for instance, her hair is still very warm, has a lot of gold undertone to it. But if she had more of a darker coloring to her hair, if she had like a black or a bluish base to her hair that may throw off the undertone of her skin. Another thing you want to take into consideration is eye color because even though she may have a warm undertone to her skin if she had a really bright piercing blue eye that may make her more of a cool undertone. So those are two factors that you want to take into consideration when trying to determine undertones of your skin. You want to look at the whole picture because in the end you want your makeup to be balanced and you want everything to work very well together. You wouldn't want to mix different undertones on the eyes and different undertones on the lips because that will lead you to have an off look to your makeup.
