Hi! I am Carl Shepard with expertvillage.com talking about different bass techniques today. A very popular scale is the pentatonic scale used in rock music and I am going to show you the A pentatonic scale here starting on the E string. Basically, what we do is we span between the frets of five and eight, I am going to use my index for the fifth fret, my middle for the sixth, ring finger for the seventh and pinkie for the eighth. We play the fifth fret of E, eighth fret of E, fifth fret of A, sixth fret of A, seventh fret of A, fifth fret of D, seventh fret of D, fifth fret of G, seventh fret of G and then eighth fret of G, okay, coming back down. This is a great scale to improvise in and definitely it goes with a lot of different songs that you will find.
Thanks Carl. These are great lessons.
