Wanda the Whale Hoses

One of the most important parts of your automatic pool cleaner are the hoses. Believe it or not, not only do they carry the water that sucks and drives the cleaner and carries the debris back to the pump but they're also an intrical part about the steering of the cleaner and not, that's never so much true as with Wanda the Whale. All the hose sections are identical. End to end, male, female and the connection of them is pretty straight forward. You do want to make sure that you set them all the way home by connecting them straight through and let me show you here. It's usually a push and twist technique. A lot of times it's difficult to do, the hoses are harder or newer and a little secret there. A little trade secret is to take both ends, dip them in the pool, get them wet and boink, mate them right together. The other thing is that makes this unique is that for Wanda the Whale, this is called the leader hose, not to be confused with leader hosen. It's the first hose that attaches directly to the cleaner. Let me show you how that works. You want to make sure that as you put it on to the cone assembly that you push it real hard as it goes down, okay, and for all intention purposes even if it's going in for repair leave the leader hose on it. Don't take it on or off. It will start to crack and if it slips inside of here, the way it steers is, see that movement there, if I give it a little push, it moves around. That's exactly how it moves in the water. The cone and the hose stay constant while the cleaner itself does the spinning and moving. If it slips in the cuff, it'll move incorrectly and start to wind hoses and all sorts of different things. When you store it, with these hoses, never, never, never, never, never, ever, ever coil them. Always store them straight and if never more so than with a leader hose. This is how you would store the cleaner, with it out, even if you wanted to separate it, you want to make it that way. A lot of times you leave it on when you bring it in for repair. If you do that, that's an intrical part of steering, it sounds simple, make sure that it's there, you don't coil them, take them out of the pool when you shock them. The hoses will have a good long life and so will the cleaner.
