Powering a Christmas Tree

Hi my name is Leslie Moselle and I'm Tony Ramirez and we are from Tampa Bay. On behalf of Expert Village this is how to decorate a Christmas tree. Hello everyone from underneath of my tree right now. So you have everything plugged, you have your lights you know strung around and then your ornaments are all hung. Now you are going to want to power it up. So one of the things the first thing I'm going to tell you is if you are using a real tree make sure you keep it watered. You don't want it to dry and anything bad to happen. It can cause fire. These lights of course are rated for home use, indoor use, so they should e pretty good. But remember anything could happen. It will actually tell you if these lights are good indoor/outdoor color as you can see here. So one of the things to remember these is are each of these lights run about three amps each. You socket is about fifteen amps. So you do the math three time five is fifteen so don't use any more then five of these per circuit. So check your circuit breaker outside to figure out which outlets you know would supply which circuit. So if you are wonder why this is upside down it is usually upside down in your apartment or in your home will be the ones that we would be switched on the walls or near where it is. So if you are going to use it and you are noticing that all your not coming on there is probably nothing wrong with it just go to the switch and flip it on. So here is another thing you want to do is a timer. I have talked about these in another one of my Expert Village videos security this is a great way to have your tree come on when ever you want. How to turn them off whenever you want. Say you are not home, say you have had a little bit to much eggnog with some thing in it and you forget to turn your lights off. This would actually turn them all off for you. It is very simple. Move these lights out of the way, here is my plug, plug it in. Now I have my outlet. Oops I forgot this one is upside down just like that. So you can go ahead and use your timer, plug it up and just be safe.
