How to Use a Metronome for Electric Guitar Solos: Part 2

Hi! My name is John Armstrong with expertvillage.com, I’m a professional guitar instructor and today I’ll be going over some of the basic rudiments of playing the lead guitar or soloing. Now that we’ve done it at 60 beats per minutes we’re going to bump the metronome up in increments of two, so now its set at 62 beats per minute, never in any higher than increments of two, always start off at 60 or lower and always move the metronome up in increments of two. We’re going to skip through quarter notes, eighth notes and triplets and start right off at sixteenth notes at 62 beats per minutes, say it to yourself a few times first 1, 2, 3, 4, 1, 2, 3, 4…I get it down at 62 beats per minutes I’m going to go up to 64, 64, 66 keep bumping the metronome up in increments of two starting off at sixteenth notes do it till you have a hang of it there and eventually this will help to increase your overall speed while still maintaining the proper right and left hand technique and good clean sound in notes.
