This is Lauren on behalf of Expert Village and we are talking about Violet Chinchillas. The first Violet Chinchilla was actually born in Rhodesia, Africa in 1960 and sold to a breeder in California. The body hair is very light gray, but it has a violet sheen to it. It's stomach is bright white and violet is a recessive color, so it is very hard to breed. Two violets should also never be bred together. Their color combination has to be read very carefully. Breeders that have these chinchillas are always trying to strengthen the line. Stay with us and we are going to talk about chinchillas in pairs.
