Grey Chinchilla Facts

This is Lauren on behalf of Expert Village and we are going to be talking about Chinchilla colors and we are going to start with the standard Grey. Standard Grey Chinchillas are the closest to the original color out in the wild. They are the most common color that occurs and the one that you typically see most often. What it looks like is a light Grey coat with a white underbelly. The fur on the stomach has white and you want to make sure that it is as clean and pure white you can get it and have kind of a mixture of Grey hair in there. That is what is referred to as a dirty coat and something that you don't want to have. The bottom of the actual hair is kind of a blue Grey color and as move up the hair, the middle part is white and the tip is light to dark black and that is where you get kind of the color trough the top of the Grey fur. The coat should be thick, soft and uniformed in all the same length. Any bald spots, variance in shades of color of the body, long noses, long body shapes are not part of the ideal standard for a Chinchilla. Stay with us for part 2 and we are going to talk more about Chinchillas.
