The Facts on Chinchilla Personalities

This is Lauren for Expert Village and we are going to talk a little bit about the personality of a Chinchilla. Chinchilla's are naturally curious and energetic and personable. They can learn how to recognize your voice so when you come into the room they might get excited to see you. They get used to your routine so they know when dinner time is like other pets such as a dog. They can do really well with other animals within the family such as dogs or cats. They might become friends but you have to be extremely careful because a dog or cat can think that they are a prey and turn around and go after them which happens actually quite a bit. People can lose their Chinchilla to a dog getting into a room unexpectedly. If you establish your routine, Chinchillas will anticipate different times that things are going to happen. If you put a new object in their cage, they will immediately go over and investigate it, turn it over and start playing with it. Life seems to be full of fun and games so they can typically make a pretty entertaining pet. Stay with us next time and we are going to talk a little bit about letting your Chinchilla out to play.
