Neutral Theatre Masks

On behalf of Expert Village I'm Emily DeCola in the Puppet Kitchen in NYC and today we are going to talk about theatrical masks. At the school in Paris there is a physical theater school, a mime and mask performance one of the most essential elements is the neutral mask. So that is something else to look into, what I tend to work in as a designer is a sort of classical American mixture of lots of different styles. Ideas and terms of design and performance that draw from Asia and Europe from the contemporary and from traditional. For instance borrowing from no mask tradition, I do some carving in wood. I borrow a lot of forms from the Canadia tradition which is very exaggerated character styles. In a second we'll take a look at those masks.
