How to Do a Butterfly Stretch in Jazz Dancing

The second section of a jazz class is the floor section. That's where we warm up our lower body. We warm up our legs, our feet, our hips. We want to lift up, we're going to bring our legs together in the butterfly position. You're going to lift up the chest, shoulders and head are in alignment, from here the legs will come up one, two. You're going to lift up the back, pressing down, three and four. Never letting the back contract, always lifting up as you open up the hips. And one, two, and press down with the chest, three and four. Again one, two, and lift up, three and four. Last time, one, two, three and four. From here, we're going to lift and portabra forward. When we portabra, you lead with the chest. One, two, three, four, the head is the last thing to go down. And you're going to roll up. The head is the last thing to come up, seven and eight. Again, portabra, one, two, three and four, and rolling up, five, six, seven, lift up, everything's in alignment, and eight.
