General Halloween Safety Tips Summary

Hi! I'm Karina Fraley for Expert Village and tonight we're talking about Halloween safety for trick or treating. Just to recap; if you have young children, you're going to want to stay very close with them on Halloween night trick or treating. Make sure that their costumes are safe, flame retardant, and that you're really within an arm's reach of your toddler at all times. It's very easy for them to get hurt or lost very quickly. Also, be careful of open flames. Nowadays, there are lost of choices out there. As we discusses, battery operated candles and jack-o-lanterns, and little flames. Go with these instead of the traditional candles. Make sure that all of your children's props are safe and that you go over safety tips and rules with your children. If you have older children, make sure that you remind them that need to behave themselves on Halloween like they do on any other night of the week. Also, no eating candy on the way home until mom and dad have checked it. Just be sure that you remind your kids that they need to have some sort of communication with you throughout the night if they go out alone. If you have a younger child, even if you're going with that child, make sure that you either tape or give them a piece of paper with your contact information. Their name, your name, and your phone number on there. With all of these safety tips in mind, I'm sure that you're well prepared to have a very happy and safe Halloween. Thanks for joining us on Expert Village. I'm Karina Fraley.
