How to Prevent a Lost Children on Halloween

Hi! I'm Karina Fraley for Expert Village and tonight we're talking about Halloween safety tips for trick or treating. Now, we've discussed staying close to your child when you're out on the street. If for whatever reason your child becomes separated, which he or she could, you're going to want to have a plan ahead of time so that they don't panic. Young children can become very, very, scared very quickly at the sight of a mask or anybody in a wig. Even in a friendly character's costume, they can be very scared. If they're lost it can really become a very traumatizing even for a young child. Aside from the obvious rules, which are to stay close to your child, you should probably also write your child's name, home phone number, and your name somewhere on a piece of paper or on a piece of tape. Either make a bracelet for your child that they can put around the wrist, or just put a sticker or a piece of tape right on their costume that tells your name and your number. In case your child gets lost, somebody can call you up. You might also want to point out a few houses of neighbors that you feel are safe spots for your children to go and knock on the door if they get lost, and the neighbor can call you. Be sure that somewhere on their body your child has their home phone number, their name, and your name so that you can be reached in an emergency.
