Hi! I'm Karina Fraley for Expert Village and tonight we're talking about Halloween safety tips for trick or treating. If you're going to send your child out trick or treating alone, you're really going to have to keep in mind that you should instill a 'no going into stranger's homes' rule. I know it sounds like a no-brainer, but you would be surprised at how many children sort of lose sight of the regular rules on Halloween night. Everything just kind of goes out the window. Taking candy from strangers, opening door for strangers, the whole bit. Going into a stranger's home is one of those things. Particularly, if the home is all decked out with a haunted house and it looks like it has some really cool spooky things in there, it's going to be tempting to a child to go in. You really have to just reiterate to your child that it's a very dangerous to do, to go into a stranger's house. If they want to go to a haunted house, they can either find one that you know the people and that you're comfortable letting your child with, or you can go with them. You can take them to a theme park. There are also public haunted houses. Those are options, but going into a stranger's house should never be an option, not even on Halloween night.
