How to Evade Attack With a Knife

TRES TEW: Hi, I'm Tres Tew. I'm an instructor here at Yeshua's Ryu Martial Arts. I'm going to be teaching you about how to use open hands to defend yourself against the knife and this'll be on behalf of Expert Village. Okay, now we're going to be talking about evasion. Again, if you're at pretty good distance away from the knife, this is going to be a good option for you. Okay, they swing at you; you're evading and countering with whatever. Okay, you can counter either to their body, you probably want to go to the knife hand or if they come in again, okay, you're getting control of the knife but the basic principle is you want to get out of the way of the knife and then counter with something, okay? A flurry of stuff, okay, you don't want to just do one technique because that's not going to do enough, especially with a knife attack because they feel they still have the power. So when they come in, you're bam! Bam! Bam! Pow! Just going it all for them because that's extremely important, okay, if you don't get control of the knife, okay? And that's how to evade and counter when someone attacks you with a knife.
