Glass Blowing: How to Make a Holiday Ornament

Hi I’m Anna from annawillowglassdesign.30art.com and I am going to show you how to use the hand tools for shaping of one glass ornament while I blow it out. Right now I am heating up in the glory hole so that the glass is nice and molten so that we can blow air into it easily. I’ll go over to the bench and my assistant will blow. Go ahead and blow a little bit of air into the Christmas ornament and blow harder while I make a neck line in it. Stop blowing which will make it easy to break off the end of the pipe. Blow a little bit more please. Blow, blow, blow, stop and now we are done with the Christmas ornament ball and we will only have to go over here and put on the loop so you can hang it from your tree. This is called a knock-off station. I’m going to put the ornament inside of this little basket of kevlar while my assistant brings me a loop. That is a little gather of hot fresh glass.
