How to Maintain & Care for a Yard Edger's Filter

Hi! My name is Matthew Christian from Tampa, Florida and on behalf of Expert Village, today I would like to talk to you about the proper use and maintenance of a yard edger. Another area of importance that you will want to become familiar with on your gas power yard tool is the air filter. From time to time, you will need to remove and replace or clean the air filter. This particular model is rather easily accessible by unscrewing the side cover, a couple of more turns and we remove the cover and we expose the air filter. This particular unit is fairly new. It is not necessary to clean the filter just yet but if it were, again you are using your yard tool out in the yard and there is a lot of sand debris flying through the air and it does get trapped and it will eventually clog this filter up and inhibit the full function of your gas power yard tool. So again, from time to time inspect your air filter, see if it looks like it is getting dirty, some mild dish detergent in warm water will clean the filter. Also on some air filters, it is necessary to spray a little bit of oil on the filters. Just household WD-40 will suffice. By spraying oil on the filter helps to trap dust particles a little better. Check you filter from time to time, make sure it is clean. If necessary, clean it, dry it thoroughly, spray a little oil on it to reinstall it. By doing so, this will help ensure that your gas power yard tool last a long time.
