How Vacations Treat Stress

What's a mini vacation? It is a small vaction or a big vacation. Or a vacation that takes a few seconds or few minutes or whatever time you have and what you might imagine is that it doesn't matter how much time you take to allow yourself to relax or be quiet and regenerate. What matters is how you do it and whether you do it with some consistency. Let's talk about having a practice that is routine that allows us to relax whether we need it or not that give us the opportunity to have our bodies regenerate and our minds clear get into kind of a problem solving mode if that's necessary. Now, how can we do that well you remember the contingency sample with a nice deep relaxation breath imagining healthy air coming in and relaxing at the end of the breath. Suppose you did that once an hour throughout the day how much time would that take. Maybe a total of 15 minutes throughout the day and you took two or three breaths relaxed and you went about your business. So suppose you have one of those digital watches that beep on the hour and you set it to chime on each hour and your watch chimes stop whatever you are doing unless of course you are hanging by your fingernails out the window then we'll skip that one. And stop and take a breath and then go back to work. You could do this a total of ten times a day without interfering with anything. We'll be talking about how to incorporate excercises that are that simple to change the way you spend your day from a stress point of view.
