Symptoms of Stress

Why are we putting all this energy into examining stress ? figuring out what its doing in our lives and doing something about it. Well stress causes a variety of symptoms in human beings. And in other animals but were talking about you and me. You already know that when were under stress our pulse rate increases, our blood pressure increases, muscular tension increases. We have hormonal changes everything again geared to prevent our destruction. To help us survive danger. Well, those symptoms can tell us first when were under stress so if my palms are sweaty somethings going on. If I notice that im grinding my teeth somethings going on. If I feel my heart pounding, somethings going on. Those are early symptoms of stress. They can be very subtle we don't notice when our blood pressure is up most of the time. We don't notice when our hands are a little moist. Most of the time. If we take care of the stress for example if I'm grinding my teeth and I notice that and I say oh its the person with the gum or its that problem I haven't taken care of. I have an opportunity to relax let this go and answer the question what do I do now? what I do now is I don't grind my teeth I go solve the problem. Figure out how to do that and take care of it. What if we dont do that? What if these symptoms continue on well in human beings the use of energy thats normally helps us heal our selves, process food properly, work effectively. If that gets wasted than it reduces the degree to which we can do all of those things. In our next clip we'll talk about how serious stress symptoms can be and why its worth paying attention to them.
