How to Tune a Guitar: Part 1

Hi, I'm Erica Lane with Expert Village talking about how to write a Christmas song on the guitar. The next thing you are going to need to do to prepare for writing your Christmas song on the guitar is actually to tune your guitar. You can't successfully find chordal progressions without having your guitar properly tuned. So the first thing you need, you want to do if you are going to do it manually and if you don't have an electronic tuner like I do on my guitar or one that's hand held. Then you can do it manually by simply finding the fifth fret and you are going to start with the top string which is the E string. You are just going to pluck that first string, then what you want to do is you want to match the string below it to the top string. So you are going to hold down the top string and you are going to pluck the second string, so far those two are in tuned.
