How to Keep the Look & Feel of the Basic Latin Dance

On behalf of Expert Village, my name is Rodney Lopez and I'm Amelia Maldonado. We're here at Dance Manhattan Studios here in New York City, and we're teaching you bachata. When doing these underarm turns, you still have to keep the look and the feel of the basic step. Even though she's turning, she's still going to get that hip up on 4 and 8 and I'm going to do the same with basic. In slow motion, we're going to go underneath the bridge again, the ladies are. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8. It's not just a walking step where you lose the character of the basic movement. You're still sort of adding that hip action on 4 and 8 while you're doing it. Gentlemen, make sure you follow that lady back and forth so that when she's done with that turn 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, you're back together at the same time and you're closed position.
