Learn the Closed Position in Bachata Dance

On behalf of Expert Village, my name is Rodney Lopez and I'm Amelia Maldonado. We're here at Dance Manhattan Studios here in New York City, and we're teaching you bachata. Now we're going to so this same step in closed position. What you're going to notice is that Amelia and I are off center. That allows me to sort of take these forward and back steps without really stepping on her feet. When we do forward motion, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, she doesn't really feel my hip touching her. That's because we're off center slightly. When I raise my hip and she raises hers, I'm not feeling her hip bone hit mine or anything. That would be much more difficult if we were squared off. Since I'm a little bit off center, we can do this step very comfortably going forward and back. Forward, 5, 6, 7, 8, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8. Alright. Gentlemen, walking forward with your left, taking soft easy steps. 1, 2, 3, hitch, 5, 6, 7, hitch, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8.
