Why Use a Hammer Drill?

Hi! My name is Matthew Christian from Tampa, Florida and on behalf of Expert Village, I am going to talk about proper use of a hammer drill. You may ask yourself why would I need a hammer drill? Why would I need to drill through concrete? There are a lot of different scenario's. One may be that you want to install an automatic garage door opener remove control on the outside of your garage against the brick wall of your house. Well you can't drive a standard screw into concrete so the alternative is to use a hammer drill to drill a hole through the concrete and then using a special fastener. This one is called a Tecon. It is manufactured by a company called Tecon and they provide or manufacture a variety of screws designed specifically for screwing into concrete. Another application would be if you are installing a wood flooring into a room with concrete floors. Well wood floors are installed traditionally nailing it. Can't nail the concrete so what you may do instead is screw down plywood onto the concrete floor which provides a sub straight for you to nail the wood floor to. So you would drill the holes into the concrete and use a Tecon to screw into the plywood. Quite simply now, we can actually drive a screw into concrete.
