Drilling a Hole in the Ceiling or Floor for an Electrical Outlet

Hi I am Drew Fendy, master home inspector. I have been inspecting for over 24 years. Today we are going to describe how to install an electrical receptacle for Expertvillage.com. Okay, now we need to drill a hole from the basement up through into the wall and/or if you are doing the same thing from the attic down through. You mark out where you want to be and you have got to be very, very careful to make sure that when you drill through you are inside the wall. So measure, measure, measure, the whole thing measure twice cut once. Measure 3-4 times cut once. We don’t want to come up into the floor or up above, we want to be in the wall. So, I have measured out and marked here and we will drill a hole right through here. I am going to grab my drill and we will get going. So a drill with a nice bit here you can use that or a flat spade bit this just drills a little quicker. So line it up in the hole…. got the hole through. Now we feed the wire, fish up and get it from below, let me grab the fish.
